Have you ever run ads on Google, Facebook, or Instagram and wondered why no one is clicking, signing up, or buying? You’re not alone. The problem is not always your product or your ad design, it’s often that you’re showing the wrong message at the wrong time.
Let’s understand this better. Every customer goes through 3 stages before they buy something. These stages are called the Buyer Journey:
Awareness Stage – The person doesn’t know they have a problem yet.
Consideration Stage – They now understand the problem and are looking for options.
Decision Stage – They’re ready to buy and just need a final push.
Now here’s the big mistake: most businesses only run ads for the decision stage. They offer discounts, special deals, and “Buy Now” buttons — even to people who don’t know the brand yet. That’s like asking someone to marry you on the first date!
Let’s Break It Down with Examples
Awareness Stage – “I don’t know I need this.”
A person is scrolling Instagram. They don’t know they need a skincare routine. Your job is to educate them with helpful videos or blog content like:
→ 5 Signs Your Skin Needs Better Care
→ A reel showing the effects of skipping skincare
At this stage, don’t ask them to buy. Just give them useful, easy-to-digest content. Make them aware of the problem.
Consideration Stage – “I know I need something. What are my options?”
Now, the person is Googling “Best skincare products for oily skin.” Here’s your chance to show up with:
→ Product comparison posts
→ Case studies or success stories
→ YouTube videos explaining how your brand compares to others
The goal is to build trust and make them feel confident in what you offer.
Decision Stage – “I know what I want. Let’s do it.”
This is where you use high-converting ads:
→ “Get 20% off today only”
→ “Buy now and get free shipping”
→ Landing pages with clear CTAs (call-to-action) like “Sign Up,” “Start Now,” or “Get It Today”
This is the stage where decision-making happens. But unless you’ve helped the customer through stages 1 and 2, they may not respond.
Match Your Ads to the Right Stage for Real Results
If you’re running a beauty brand, don’t just push “50% Off” ads every day. Also run educational reels, skincare tips, and before-after stories.
If you’re offering digital services, don’t only send people to your pricing page. First show them blogs about results, client stories, or guides like “How to Get More Leads Online.”
When you match your message to where the buyer is, you stop wasting ad money and start seeing real conversions.
